The final stages of the build!!!! as & when it happens

crepi finish from the side

After a very long wait things started to get done shortly before our arrival, as you can see the builders have done an excellent job - we can't wait to see it with our own eyes. The front of the property will hopefully be done next and if we are very lucky they may do some more work inside. Debby tells us the weeds have gone mad this year so it looks like we will have our work cut out strimming, cutting, picking and tidying when we get there.

Things seemed to move pretty quickly as soon as we were actually over at Le Petit Logis, the artisan tiler came and finished the plinthes round the edges of the tiles and Christophe fitted the staircase and shutters. While all this was going on the family tackled the garden in force. Since March the weeds had reached the dizzy heights of between 4-5 feet but the veg and herb garden was thriving despite there being virtually no rain. Dave set to work on the grenier by painting & fitting laminated flooring - slowly but surely we will get there. We plan to have it finished approx January-February 2012 (money permitting).

Dave is working really hard to get Le Petit Logis like a home and Jan is constantly on the look out for bargains to make the house a 'home' and wishing her life away waiting for the date to return to France. There has been a bumper harvest of cherries this year (both red & yellow varieties), Dave has had his work cut out collecting them before the birds get to them, all friends and neighbours have been given bags full so they don't go to waste.

The floor tiling has been finished and the kitchen is taking shape, some of the fruit trees have the branches bending close to breaking point - especially the pears so it looks like we might have a bumper harvest in September/October

Dave has worked so hard assembling, fitting, connecting, papering - in fact you name it he does it (with a great finish as well) the whole project is coming together nicely.

Despite the 100+ degree temperatures Dave with the help of Roy did a fantastic job of making the pathways around the house, the master shower room is tiled ready for the shower cubicle to be fitted and the staircase has come up a treat.

thanks for visiting - come back soon
